World Drone Cup Italy 2024

In 2024 we received our very first FAI World Championship invitation to Italy – a huge milestone for Dutch Drone Racing and for myself as an organizer.
We were trusted with the track design, race timing, and full production of the event.

The challenge was to create a course that was not only technically demanding for the world’s best pilots, but also visually exciting for the audience and easy to follow on livestream.

What we delivered

Track Design – built a unique layout that combined technical precision with high-speed sections.
Timing & Race Control – managed the full RotorHazard-based timing system, ensuring flawless lap detection and fair racing.
Production – coordinated the crew, handled schedules, and ensured smooth operations from qualification to finals.

Results & Impact

The event was praised by both pilots and audience, with feedback calling the Italy edition one of the smoothest and most exciting drone races of that year.
For me personally, it marked the moment where our work at Dutch Drone Racing transitioned from community-driven races to globally recognized competitions.
